Psalm 118:6-7
“The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? The Lord is with me; he is my helper (Psalm 118:6-7).”
Lord, today I’m lifting up ____. There have been millions of times that she has experienced your true “with-ness.” It has encouraged her beyond belief. We’re never sure why there are just certain times that her mind plays tricks on her. It’s almost as if the evil one is there, somehow haunting her in such a way that she forgets that you are with her and that you are all-powerful. During the times she has her wits about her, it must seem hard to imagine – because in her head, she knows you are with her. But in those certain times, if it’s not too much to ask, would you please give her an extra boost of confidence in your presence. Would you please maybe even show her with some kind of sign that you are walking with her even in those moments in the dark of the night when things are so still. Help her to fall right back asleep, knowing that you’re there beside her.
Lord, sometimes it seems to come along with some kind of fear related to her health or some kind of concern about a possible symptom she’s experiencing. So one solution one might ask, Lord – if she’s experiencing a strange symptom or condition, would you please be so kind as to make the condition or symptom subside quickly? She knows you’re with her. She just … fears sometimes. We all do. But it just seems sometimes to be so powerful with her.
So – may she never fear again, Lord. We can tell her not to fear. But you, in all your power, can also boost her past the fear and doubt. We know you can, Lord.
Help her to realize that, at the end of the day, physical attacks on one’s body are actually completely futile anyway because you made her body — and you made it wonderfully. And even beyond that, what could anyone do to take away from her life anyway. It’s kind of weird to look at it like this, but being absent from this life would ultimately mean we could be present with you for eternity anyway! May she also take heart in the fact that, even if and when we do depart from this life, we just begin experiencing eternity with you anyway.
But mankind can’t touch her in any of this. And frankly, neither can any physical ailment or malady. You are too powerful. You are too mighty. You are too amazing. With your help, we’ve got this. She has got this. You are with her. You will never leave her. You’ve promised this. Please help her believe it.
And wow – it seems so crazy that you have promised that you will be her helper. You, the God of the universe… the keeper of the stars… you have not only offered, but rather, you have promised that you will be there as her helper and her shield. May she rest in that promise. May she realize that it would be completely unnecessary ever to doubt again in view of the fact that she has you as her helper. You are here fortress. You are like the wall of a city around her. You are a force field. You are her protector. She can trust in you right now, this very moment. She can rely on you. She can believe. She can rest in your promises.
You are her helper. Thank you for that.
In Jesus’ Name we pray,
Amen
