John 14:1-4, 25-27
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4 You know the way to the place where I am going.”
“All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Lord, today I lift up ___. Please help her to hear and process your simple command not to let her heart be troubled. I guess it’s one thing to hear it – but it’s another thing to do it when we’re in the midst of an inner battle or struggle. In those times, Lord, please be with her. You’ve said you are preparing your heaven for her. May she know that you are powerful enough not only to prepare a place there, but also to walk her through any kind of battle here too. You speak of being with her there. But Lord, I also pray you’ll be with her here. You said we know the way to the place where you are going. Please show her the way not only to THAT place, but the way to get to a place of peace here too, on this planet, Lord.
[alternative prayer on those same verses:
Lord, today I lift up ____. You have commanded that we are not to allow our hearts to be troubled. Yet, Lord, as dust on the ground, how is it that we can will such a thing. If we feel burdened, is it an act of will? If so, then please Lord, may ___ give over her will to you so her heart will no longer be troubled. But if it isn’t an act of will, please give her the strength to overcome any trouble she feels in her heart. She believes both in God and in You — 100%. You’ve promised that your Father’s house has room for her. She takes great solace in this. She knows you’re preparing a place for her. It is not death or judgment she fears. It’s that her heart becomes troubled in this world with anxiety. Would you please prepare a place for her in this world that is free from all worry? May she grant her entire future into your hands.]
We don’t take for granted, Lord, the fact that you walked on this planet. You inhabited a body just like ours. You know these pains and these challenges. But you also know how to beat them. You even come in the form of the Holy Spirit to be an advocate for us. Please, Father, send your Spirit to be strong in ____. Teach her all things she needs to overcome these challenges in this life. Remind her of everything you’ve said to her. Please leave your peace with her for good. Give her your peace. We know you don’t give it like the world gives it. Your peace is secure. We can rely on it. It lasts. It never waivers. Now … please give that peace to ___. May her heart never again be troubled. May she never again be afraid of ANYthing — because she knows you and the Holy Spirit are with her.
In the mighty name of Jesus I pray,
Amen
