Luke 12:22-32

22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you — you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.

Lord, today I pray for ____. Please help her never to be concerned about life, what she eats, her body, or what she will wear. She knows in her head that life is more than all those things. Help her internalize these thoughts in her heart at all times. We know you care for sparrows and ravens. May she realize that, ultimately, everything going on in her life, regardless of how big or how small, rests in your sovereign will. The Ravens don’t have to worry about anything. Help her to realize she’s much more valuable than all the ravens put together. Help her realize that, ultimately, nothing can be changed by being concerned about it anyway. So please give her complete and total release in your sovereignty. Help her realize that she is soooooooo much more valuable than birds.

Lord, we know that wild flowers grow without a worry in the world. They don’t even lift a finger. Help her accept the fact that, if you can make flowers way more beautiful than the splendor of the finest king, you can also take care of her. May she realize that all the flowers and grass are temporary. May she rest in knowing that You will be there to take care of her. Please strengthen her faith to feel in her heart what she already knows in her head. Lord, it’s clear she doesn’t place her priority on things on this planet. So help her to understand you’ll take care of all those things, even as she prioritizes serving you. Help her to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you are there, taking care of her in every minute of every day.

You’ve told us never to be afraid. May she take that admonition to heart. Give her strength please, Lord.

In the mighty Name of Jesus, I pray,

Amen
