Our office has been using GoToMeeting. It’s ok… but sometimes I wonder if we get stuck in a rut and forget to recheck to see if somebody else has improved another product, you know? For example, this past Monday I sat in on a webmeeting staged via software at…
It was ok too. Today, I saw the review at…
http://webconferencing-test.com/en/webconference-home
and sure enough, GoToMeeting was listed as #1, but, I sometimes wonder if some of those “reviews” are sponsored by the company that wants to be #1, you know? So — real life human experience — which medium do you prefer? Are there any steals of a deal out there? Some people might be using Skype or VSee.com — which would be poor-man’s webinar software, right? What’s your pick?
I’ve been using this service since it started late last year. Love it!

We’ve been using online meeting tools for sometime and not found anything that was quite right…
We’ve finally settled on Skype for the voice part of the conference which generally seems to be robust and reliable. We then use one of the following for screen sharing and working together.
IHMC CMap – not well documented but great once you’ve got going and especially if you like mind mapping – http://cmap.ihmc.us
Scribblar – fair for whiteboard sharing etc – http://www.scribblar.com/
YAM – Yet Another Meeting – fair – http://www.yamlabs.com/
Callnote – a Skype plugin – search within Skype. It works but isn’t better than fair.
The truth is we’ve not found free services that are truly great but neither have the paid for services proved to that great either. One of the things we’ve found is that all the services seem much better if you are offering a presenter led event. Where we find they tend to fail is when you want the ability for everyone to participate synchronously.
We have been using FuzeMeeting for about a year. It has some good features: web-based, cross-platform, mobile apps, skype-integration, chat, document viewer. It’s done the job, but has proven to be unreliable for some people. We are now looking at using MeetingBurner (www.meetingburner.com). It looks promising and provides some nice features on their free account.
