9) Do your Next Retreat or Vacation at EdenRidge in Tennessee

Are you from the USA, or visiting there soon? EdenRidge, a missionary-focused retreat and vacation destination located in East Tennessee, welcomed nearly 2,000 missionary guests this year. The ministry opened two new small cottages for parties of one or two, complementing the two existing cabins for parties of four. Occupancy was 100% for the March to October season. Please book early if you would like to visit EdenRidge next year as they anticipate another full year. Reservations are made online at

11) GoDaddy Changed their Tune: No longer Racy with Race Cars

In last week’s item asking for help for hosting…

https://brigada.org/2015/10/23_17336

We mentioned GoDaddy, but also mentioned “You might not like their commercials.” A quick search on the web confirmed what a Brigada participant mentioned (thanks George). It appears he’s right: GoDaddy has dropped their racy ads. See this item at AdWeek:

http://www.adweek.com/news/advertising-branding/go-daddy-promises-no-more-sleazy-super-bowl-ads-153518

We apologize that we hadn’t noticed the change! So… have at it! No longer any need to avoid GoDaddy as a great service for domains, hosting, and more. The benchmark by which all others are measured!

12) What Kind of Impact Can Brigada Have?

Janice wrote, “Several years ago, I moved from working with a major media mission to serve as an independent consultant, providing training for missional radio stations-whoever asked for it, in my region. The move was a challenge, because my colleague and I had to re-brand our work. Also, we wanted to make our training materials more user-friendly, with contextual illustrations to help learners understand key principles of the lesson. Enter Brigada: a notice in your bulletin and we soon had a kind volunteer in the US who provided us not only with a purpose-designed logo, but with cartoons to match our teaching content. Good job, Brigada!”

13) We’re Grateful for…

thankful-wreath…Go International, who sent $30 to move their item forward in the queue. God bless you!

If Brigada has had an impact on you or your ministry, would you please drop us a note and let us know? One paragraph is plenty. We’ll feature your item in a future edition.

Each November/December, we ask Brigada participants to chip in on the costs we incur to provide resources, motivation, information, and trends to Great Commission workers all over the world. We hold our requests to a reasonable amount. We’ve worked off of a budget of $17,120 annually for over a decade. This covers the costs associated with domains, email-sending services, light marketing costs, and a part-time assistant to help with compiling and publishing. Everything we do is associated with reaching unreached peoples. If your church, family, or business would consider chipping in, we’d be very grateful.

Will we try to go on producing Brigada even if you don’t help? Probably so. Because we serve out of passion, not for financial gain. So one might ask, “Well then why should we chip in? Brigada will likely keep going anyway, in one way or another.” But isn’t a ministry of passion one that you’d RATHER help? So have at it: Throw gasoline on our fire. Back Brigada. Become a “true fan” by sending a $100 gift (or whatever you can afford) today.

Brigada hits screens all around the world. To help, just mail a check payable to Team Expansion (Brigada), 13711 Willow Reed Drive, Louisville, KY 40299. Team Expansion is a 501(c)3 incorporation so, for USA citizens, your gift to Christ through Team Expansion is tax-deductible. 14) The BackPage: The Gideons Release New Bible App

gideon bible appNone of us were around for the advent of the printing press but we can all participate in the next step. Leave it to an org named after an Old Testament hero who faced seemingly impossible odds. The Gideons have a brand new bible app for Apple and Android devices. It has over 1100 languages with audio versions in most cases. The user just plugs in his/her country and language and, bam — The scripture appears in written form. It’s free, easy to use and simply amazing. One downloads a version when WiFi is available (e.g., in a major city). That version remains on the device when one is in the field and away from the hot spot. But the cool part is that the device is shareable via Bluetooth in the field. This app will be useful not only to locals, but to short-termers and professionals who can now give the gift of scripture without having to carry boxes of books, which sometimes might elevate one’s profile. Imagine — this is like a major revolution.

Find it in your device’s “store” or “marketplace” by searching for Gideon bible or read more and see a video here…

1) What Kind of Impact Can Brigada Have?

For the last 8 weeks of 2015, we’ll be running a series by the title above. If you have a story, answered prayer, opportunity found, or other testimony about Brigada, would you please send it to us by emailing it to
Editor@brigada.org please?
A few years back when fax machines were the primary form for ordering books and maps, one org told us they always made sure they loaded their fax machine full of paper the night before a Brigada item was going to run. If they didn’t, they said they’d come into the office only to find out their fax machine ‘memory’ was maxed out with new orders. Another time, they said the “new fax” bin on their machine had run over with orders, with new orders spilling out all over the floor. Of course, these days, with web forms and emails, we no longer have to worry about bins and paper, thank the Lord. But there are still just as many great resources, opportunities, motivations, trends, and more. Thanks for being a part of Brigada!
