Our theory is that, this time of year, some cross-cultural workers have “FOMO” (the fear of missing out). Interestingly, others might suffer from “JOMO” (the *joy* of missing out haha). The FOMO folks are miserable being away from family gatherings because they imagine that others are having a super-good time and they regret that they can’t join their family. But the latter “JOMO” group are actually glad to be away from the crowds. Where do you think *you* land and how do you cope with it? Where do your KIDS land? How do you help your fellow workers cope with it?

What an interesting perspective. To me it’s a matter of salvation, fear comes from a sin nature that says I’m not going to miss what I want to do. Joy comes from the nature of Christ that dwells in us and only desires to obey the will of the father. Joy knows the eternal life of the God’s Spirit, by which we cannot miss obeying the Father.
Wow Scott. That’s super-deep – and insightful! Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Jomo glad to be away due to the flu
It’s no fun to be sick over the holidays though. Hope you’re better soon, Andrew!!!!
