When there are breakthroughs, it’s easy to get excited. Everyone jumps on board. But suppose you want to find a way to communicate the small win… maybe because you want to emphasize the fact that God is just as excited about *one* sinner who has come to repentance as He is about one million. Maybe it’s because you’re trying to set a benchmark reference for all workers – so that no one feels pushed aside if his or her “metrics” aren’t as large. How do we do that? What are some ways we can communicate excitement (and build momentum) about a small victory, even though it might not sound as dramatic or earth-shaking? How would YOU communicate “the Small Win?”

I try to keep reminding people of Zechariah 4:10 “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin…” If the Lord rejoices at “small wins”, we should too! Our own excitement about being at the beginning of a great thing that God is doing is contagious to our supporters, I’ve found. I like to share stories that represent the need and/or the darkness and confusion that people are in. This shows that my lack of “big stories” does not mean that I’m doing nothing–or that God is not doing anything. In comparison to the immensity of who God is, is any “win” ever big? And compared to the depth of his love, is any “win” ever small? It is up to us to communicate God’s perspective on Kingdom work to our supporters (and to ourselves, even), I think.
