Near the end of November, it became obvious that we were going to need to develop a custom app for compiling stories, metrics, and more for the organization of which we’re a part. We scoured the web, looking at over 100 different options and trying out two dozen or so personally. We finally settled on Frontly ( https://frontly.ai/ ). They act as a no-code builder for databases like Supabase ( https://supabase.com/ ). Frontly was (and still is) running a special — $500 for a perpetual license, meaning we wouldn’t have a per-user fee at all. (Click “Read More” for ideas on how to get started.) Supabase is essentially an open-source equivalent to FireBase (and perhaps even Amazon AWS) – except you can start with a generous free plan on Supabase servers, or self-host essentially for free, or pay Supabase $25/month to handle all your hosting professionally. All of this means – once you develop your app, the most you’ll pay is $500 one-time and $25/month after that, regardless of how many users you have. Frontly is fun and easy for your no-code development individual or team. They’ll need some technical skill – but they don’t need to be programmers. Bottom line: We delivered the app in just under five weeks, start to finish to minimum viable product level – and we’re well positioned to go beyond expectations moving forward. We can’t say enough positive things about Frontly. With Supabase, it’s highly secure — and highly recommended. Plus – you can start prototyping in Googlesheets to get started, making it even simpler and easier to learn. There’s an excellent Discord community to help you with questions. The Frontly development team frequently contribute. Try Frontly. (They paid us nothing to say this. We paid the full $500 as a full-paying customer. We’re just one beggar telling another where to find bread.)
