Agreed. And the prayer requests don’t even need to talk about money. My wife and I went to Africa 40 years ago. We had started our “support raising” a couple years previous by writing to friends and the churches where we had been members, asking prayer as we prepared to go. From then until now we have never mentioned anything about support or money. It did take a couple years, but we went out fully supported, have never not been fully supported, and have never mentioned anything about money in our prayer updates and presentations in church. The only time we talk about money is when people ask.
One thing we did do was invest lots of time visiting churches and people and making ourselves available… when a church needed help at VBS, a couple needed a baby sitter, an elderly person needed something done on their house, etc. We tried to invest in people and ministry wherever we found it, taking Matthew 6.33-34 literally.
