God bless Brigada and all its friends!
I fear mt last letter was exhortative too but if it is helpful you may even thank me.
My senior missionary died some months ago but I doubt whether the bigwigs knew. However more important is whether they
care or not. You see Stuart L Caldwell was a New Zealander and as such not likely to be famous. And more; we are members of an organisation with no official organisation!?
First I will try to write him up. He may have been the most successful missionary Japan ever had. But we knew Ralph and Stella Cox, Americans; and they planted many churches in Japan. One church that my wife Connie and I pioneered was sort of a combined effort between the Caldwell couple and us. A Japanese couple, the man being a hopeless cripple, led in the faith by Stuart, later lived in my vacant house while we had our first furlough in NZ.. When we returned the ‘cripple’ man and his wife, who pickabacked him for 50 years and is still alive, decided to stay on and work with us when we came back to Japan from furlough. And that church became probably the biggest church in Japan north of Tokyo.
I hope I haven’t wasted the Lord’s time telling you all this but it’s certainly positive so take it from here.
Lovingly in the Lord Jesus,
Richard
Stuart would never give estimates the way I do but the Holy Spirit splashes numbers across the Bible so it may not be reprehensible to do the same.
Oh yes, both F.F. Bruce and George Muller were “members”. Their unofficial name, given to them by others is Open Brethren
My wild estimate is 30 churches and groups initiated by Stuart in Japan during his 70 years here loving the Japanese people.
I see my computer, with no command from me has jumbled my sentences. You may even find that, helpful???
