These days, it seems like there are a ton of services that help missionaries do all kinds of things — and missionaries are very grateful! A Brigada participant named David wrote this past week wondering if there might be any existing service that helps missionaries move. His upcoming cross-country move feels rather daunting. 7) Help David With a Moving Experience?
Our organization has used Missionary Expediters many times over the years. They provide excellent service at a reasonable cost. They primarily do international moves, but may do domestic as well. If you are in the US, one of the best ways to move on a tight budget is through ABF Trucking’s U-Pack service. They bring a 30-ft trailer to you, you load it and they drive it to the destination. You pay by the linear foot, and it usually comes out cheaper than renting a U-Haul and driving it yourself.

We have used a trucker connected with JAARS to move our belongings to the port for shipping. He adds Missionary shipments at the end of one of his runs to save them money. It takes a bit of communication and can’t be set up for a specific date. But we’ve been very happy with their help. John Marx at missionarytransport@gmail.com. It’s been a long time since we last shipped so we’re not sure if he still does this or not.
