We keep hearing more and more about Rooted. Can anyone tell us what makes it special? How would you compare/contrast it with disciple-making movement (DMM) training? At the end of the training, do participants typically want to multiply https://www.experiencerooted.com
Looks like we might go ahead and stage the 10-week opener in conjunction with our regular Sunday early-evening three-thirds group. In ten weeks, we’ll know a lot more.
I’ve never heard of it. When I checked it out, it seemed interesting. I was hoping folks would have some comments so I could learn from their experience! It seems to bring key DMM elements into the church which is good. Like most evangelical big business, they have turned a simple concept into a money maker.
I ordered the book. As I mentioned, our three-thirds group (which is normally a pure, DMM-style, discovery Bible study) will probably do it if I push for it — but they’ll only do it as a favor to me, kicking and screaming. Since we wrote the above item, the book came in and, I have to say, it’s really not DMM at all. It’s more like a typical church study… Beth Moore or Kyle Idleman. It does emphasize prayer – and it does have a session on learning to tell your testimony. Those two tools are essentially the only thing in common with DMM. Otherwise, I told our peer-mentoring group Tuesday night, I’m afraid if someone does the 10-week Rooted study, he or she will THINK that he/she has experienced a DMM strategy/training. Not at all. It’s good for a church study, of course. But the two are poles apart in reproducibility, in lifting up the Bible as the only and highest authority, in training participants to lead future studies, and much more.
