Suppose you had a network of people who had committed to pray with you about special requests or praises. What medium would you use? What kind of app or conduit would you recommend for such a service? Please click “Comment” to share your story. (Thanks!)

This is just some initial thinking — but what if Missio Nexus were to use Reach Alert. An initial subscription might cost only $100. (Cost would go up some once the list grew – but their rates are fairly reasonable.) Those signing up to pray could choose to be notified by email, text, or actual phone call (or all three, if they choose). Once the list was established, you could ask subscribers to make a small freewill offering once a year to cover the cost of maintaining the service and I bet it would MAKE money in the end. (Example, if you sign up 200 people and each were to pitch in a $10 offering per year, the service would generate $2000 but still only cost $100. Learn more at https://www.reachalert.com/how-it-works . By the way, we get no “affiliate” dollars or any gift from Reach Alert. I’m not even a user – yet. But we will be — for our soccer group – as soon as our current contract completes in August with OneCallNow. Reach Alert seems MUCH better.

This might be a good choice.
Wow Brian. They’ve really improved this since we used it three or so years ago. This is such a helpful find! Thanks for the response.
by the way, Brian, have you or anyone else used this plug-in and, if so, I assume it works as advertised? These features are awesome.
In my context, I would want a secure app…praying for people in closed countries with specific information. Now we use a whatsapp group. Not very elegant, but we all get notified of urgent needs.
I might be missing something, but what can this do that a messaging app cannot? Telegram is free and has channels that allow you to broadcast a message (if you don’t want a conversational “group”). Either way, people need to download an app they are probably not already using.
Here are some more choices — from a participant named Brian..

I agree that WhatsApp is probably one of the best choices.
Prayer Engine is made with wordpress.
I would be cautious using anything made with wordpress.
Please google secure messaging app or secure encrypted messaging app for alternatives to WhatsApp.
Thanks,
Brian
Brian, why would you be cautious with anything made with WordPress? About 30% of all the pages on the web are from WordPress: https://venturebeat.com/2018/03/05/wordpress-now-powers-30-of-websites/
It seems like Telegram is the best overall option. API’s, high security levels, can be hooked into websites for signups and it’s free.
Ted, as long as all users are willing to install it, right? There might be a bit of a generational divide for some of your best and most likely prayer advocates. I installed Telegram – when I had to… to communicate with our field workers. I was just too afraid they would harvest some of the contacts on my phone — or something similar.
here’s a free option that lets people actually write in their own prayers for others on the group to see

No one has mentioned PrayVine.org
It is excellent!
Brian, this PrayVine deal looks awesome! Thanks for mentioning it!
ServantCARE has a weekly Prayer Shield that goes out to 161 intercessors in 4 nations. Just send your request and then later your praises.
Thanks for sharing this, Anita.
