We’d love to build a packet of proposed sermons on missions that we could hand to a lead pastor at a church whose Missions Committee is saying, “We want to get serious about fulfilling the Great Commission.” In this case, the lead pastor is very open to suggestions. He just needs stimulating ideas about how to frame some first-class, gripping messages about finishing the global task. Outlines and illustrations would be best, but we’d even be willing to direct him toward audio and video examples if need be (though, like most senior pastors, he’s very busy). So please… give us your best shot. Click “Comment” following the web or app version of this item. Thanks so much for any help you can give.

Local pastors can also invite missionaries who are on home assignment to preach from time to time. Most are eager to share about what God is doing internationally.

There’s a book called God’s Love Compels Us, published by Crossway, which is a compilation of a few talks on mission from 2 Corinthians. Lots of useful quotes, headings, outlines can be gleaned from it.
I’d also suggest considering preaching from certain psalms. E.g. I’m currently working on Ps 57 where despite opposition, David is trusting in his unfailing God and longing to proclaim his love and faithfulness to the nations.
