Make a checklist. Take it with you on trip so you can add things as you “miss” them. Prioritize them according to a scale where 1 is “imperative” and 5 is “luxury”. When you pack, try to always stay within one checked bag, one carry-on. Go light!

I keep a packing list on my computer for the various destinations I visit. I simply print it out, pack, and take the list with me. That way I can update it as needed as well as doublecheck that I’ve repacked everything to go back home. If you’ve ever left a charger for your phone or camera, you know it’s worth the effort to have a checklist.
