UPDATED JOSHUA PROJECT 2000 LIST

Recent efforts for more timely updates and corrections to the Joshua Project 2000 list, have been fruitful. There are hundreds of changes from the original list of 1739, with some Peoples being added and some removed. AD2000 & Beyond Movement has printed an updated version of the list as of March 24, 1998. The new printed version identifies which Peoples are on the “updated” list, and which are from the “original” list. The hardcopy sells for $1.00 plus shipping and handling and can be ordered from info@ad2000.org.

The Joshua Project 2000 list of unreached peoples is not a fixed list. As new information becomes available, updates continue to be made, even since the above printing. For the most recent information, you may download the database from the AD2000 & Beyond web site: http://www.ad2000.org/peoples/index.htm

If you have verifiable corrections or updates, please send them to the list administrator, Dan Scribner dan@ad2000.org. Dan’s making REAL changes. I recently submitted a verifiable recommendation to him and he and Patrick Johnstone answered personally, to verify the change. It took us an exchange of 2 or 3 emails but we finally reached a consensus recommendation and now the list is more accurate on Crimean Tatars in Ukraine. So send in your suggestions! They’re listening!

GET YOUR MUSLIM RESOURCE CATALOGUE

Thanks to Jim, a C&MA missionary in Cote d’Ivoire, known as “Mr. Resource” to all his friends, we recommend Sound Vision, tel. 800-432-4262 (if not in the USA use “Net2Phone”), email: getinfo@soundvision.com. They’ll send you a free catalogue full of CDs, videos, etc. Included are some REALLY cool tools for reading and understanding the Koran (it’s SO much easier to remember to spell it that way!).

CARRY-ON SAGA CONTINUES

lighting the way Thanks to all who have written regarding the limit to carry-ons on British Air, Lufthansa, and similar airlines. Here’s the bottom line: Yes… enough is enough, and all of us who have been bombed by some fat carry-on would like to see in-cabin limits enforced. But at the same time, even British Air is not enforcing the limit equally. I just flew to and from African on BA and on each and every flight they gave me hassles regarding my carry-on even though it fit in their “sizewise” gauge. My problem was that it weighed 13 kilos and for some reason, since it was on wheels, it was a higher profile target for them to seize. So — if you have to carry on some materials and you’re flying BA, choose a backpack or shoulder bag, not a roller carry-on (like flight attendants all use). And… the easiest solution of all… if you like your roller carry-on, don’t use BA or Lufthansa if you can at all avoid them. They appear to be the ONLY airlines enforcing this policy.

LOOKING FOR A GREAT LAPTOP DEAL?

As always, check out all the ads in the latest edition of PC Magazine or equivalent. And in addition, here’s an example of a guy wanting to sell directly to missionaries: NOTEBOOK COMPUTERS! – Jetta Jetbook 7050 with 12.1″ ACTIVE MATRIX screen, AMD266 with MMX Processor, 48MB RAM, 3.1GB HDD, 20X CD-ROM, Windows 95 preinstalled. Also includes carrying case and one year warranty. All for only $1,817.00. For details call Bright-Line at 1-800-330-8474 or visit our website at http://www.bright-line.com — remember to check international repair centers on whatever you buy, to be sure you understand where it will have to be sent in case it someday needs service …. and they essentially will all need service someday. I just had to send my Dell Inspiron back for service … and service is probably what separates the men from the boys. So ASK!

WORLD CUP IS KICKIN’!

Have you been following the World Cup? Exciting stuff. Just as exciting are the number of Christians and international ministries who are there making a difference. For one example, see http://www.sportsoutreach.org on the web. If you don’t have web access, send e-mail to: majordomo@gospelcom.net and put

in the message body.

REENTERING THE REENTRY SUBJECT

Arlene and Neal are still searching for some real life stories for a new book they want to publish to help educate the Church to their responsibility in reentry issues. They will respect your confidentiality. If you’ve got a reentry story for them, contact Arlene and/or Neal at Emmaus_Road@eri.org for more details.

WHERE IS IT ILLEGAL TO SHARE THE GOSPEL?

Check it out at http://www.state.gov/www/global/human_rights/970722_relig_rpt_christian.html and see if you agree with the rulings by the US gov’t (beware the fact that that’s a VERY long URL and you’ll probably have to splice it together after you paste it into your the URL box on your browser). ‘Course, just because it’s illegal to do public proclamation, that doesn’t mean that you can’t answer legitimate questions on a one-on-one basis!

Thanks to for hosting the Brigada mailing list.
Emphasis is placed on items relating to unreached peoples and challenges faced by those reaching them cross-culturally.

not symbolPLEASE DON’T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST — It’s always better to ask before manually force-adding anyone to your list-serve or mailing list. Recently, tons of well-meaning people have been subscribing Doug to their lists. Since he often travels overseas, he doesn’t join many of those, for obvious reasons (like being charged big-time for overseas access). So as a general rule, please don’t bulk-mail us! See the note above if you’d like to submit items for Brigada Today. Thanks for understanding. Bottom line: We will never create Brigada Today items from bulk mail. Bulk mail gets deleted immediately — sorry. Nothing personal. We suggest you apply the same standard to everyone. Ask first!

OPCWARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS — Please, before forwarding any kind of request (even if it says “please send this to all your friends”), please check to make sure it has a VERIFIABLE ORIGIN, a VERIFIABLE PURPOSE, and a VERIFIABLE CLOSURE (OPC). By following this simple approach, many “email viruses” could be nipped in the bud… at least in the Brigada family. More information about the full Brigada OPC protocol is available. Thank you.
