Guess what: During Covid, I (Doug) picked up an old hobby from long ago: Astronomy. (That’s stargazing — not “astrology.”) I managed to pick up a new telescope and I’m on a journey to learn how to use it. Have you ever been interested in how the wonders of the night sky proclaim the grandeur of the glory of God? If so, join me for a night of stargazing! Just click to https://www.youtube.com/c/EmeraldHillsSkies/videos, where I’m stacking up videos of my nighttime adventures. There are several there already. If you’d like a couple with which to start, this https://youtu.be/xRoRTQdMXVI is a 30-minute compressed version of a 14-hour Messier Marathon I did with a half-dozen other astronomy buddies from around the world in which we tried to view all 110 objects in the Messier catalogue of deep-space miracles. You’ll have to watch the video to see if we succeeded. : ) (Hint: See the award page here http://www.messier.seds.org/xtra/marathon/hall.html, where you’ll see that our team is the only successful effort in all the world in all of 2020! Crazy, right?) Here’s a two-minute video to show you the kind of astronomy I do (EAA): https://youtu.be/P-IU5KXVa0A. And in this silly one-minute “short” video that I just shot last week, https://youtu.be/moMteRq4RsA, see me run from my telescope all the way into the control room — a distance of around 200 meters, all in 60 seconds! : ) If you’d like to be notified of future episodes, just sign up at http://emeraldHillsSkies.com and subscribe. (It basically takes you to another Brigada page: https://brigada.org/emeraldhillsskies.) You’ll receive an email around 48 hours before my next “live” stargazing live stream. Maybe you can join me real-time! It would sure be great to have you so I’m not so lonely! : ) I try to do one night per week on any given clear night (when there is one). Hope you can stop by sometime soon!!

When I read Psalm 147:4…”He counts the number of stars; He calls them all by name!”… it seems unfathomable! Then I realize that is a small part of His capacity! We serve an awesome God! Then, some time ago, when I learned that each star emits a distinct sound, I came up with the idea of writing a score for an orchestra of stars! After we stand in awe of Him for a few billion eons, I am thinking of asking Him if I may do that. But, then again, they are already declaring His glory! And He probably has an even wilder plan for my eternity!
Appreciate you Neal!
Interestingly, there’s a YWAM discipleship training school in Madison which has a science and astronomy focus. Next one will hopefully be able to run soon
That’s awesome!
