This past weekend, I finally was able to see the movie, “Risen.” There’s a fierce Roman battle scene. And cruel soldiers break the legs of the thieves on the cross beside Jesus. These scenes are probably too vivid and violent for youngsters. But compared to today’s flicks, it’s mild. There is no bad language, and no visible sexual content. And a lot to think about. Truly, it’s worth the watch. Seeing the crucifixion through the eyes of a determined skeptic, Clavius — a Roman tribune, is compelling. It just might be equally meaningful for your skeptical friends. This is exactly why we travel half-way around the world: to give testimony of this same “Yeshua.” Seeing “Risen” explains why we leave extended family, friends, secure jobs, and sometimes even the family dog. Why? Because he has changed our lives. We can no longer stay silent. We HAVE to give testimony to this One who has changed us… and can change others too. There is no higher purpose. There is no higher calling. See Risen if you dare. If you haven’t already become a missionary, you probably will after seeing this movie. You’ll understand why we can’t stop telling His Good News globally.

When I saw the crucified victims, I said “Someone finally got it right.” That was the most accurate depiction of a Roman crucifixion that I have seen portrayed on film.
