Did you know that you could upload (or cite a URL for) an image to Google Search and it would help you find the original source for that image? Try it. Click to https://images.google.com/ then click the picture of the camera in the search box. Upload an image and search. You’ll be amazed. Try searching a picture of yourself.
While not foolproof, Joshua Project uses this on image submissions to ensure we aren’t using copyrighted material. If someone sends us a photo and it doesn’t show up on a Google image reverse search, we feel some confidence they have the right to offer us the use of the image. We have a template response that warns against submitting images for which they don’t have usage rights.
