OK… here’s your chance to vote. Are you a fan of…
a) The horse shoe donut? Honestly… do any of these really stay inflated all night? And what’s more — do they actually help in any possible way?
b) Those scrunchy, bulky, padded pillows that people have to lash on the outside of their backpacks? You know the type: When they spin around to head for the rest room, the pillow whaps you right in the face.
c) The new-fangled, fancy, innovative, never-before-seen “trtl pillow.” When you wear one of these, you’ll look like you came straight from the ski slope (and had a broken neck!). No seriously, these things take up very little space (once their smashed in your briefcase), they’re relatively inexpensive ($20 each. ouch), keep your neck warm on a cold plane at night, AND they come in several colors for your choosing frenzy. See them (and try them) here…

I’ll have to admit, after having tried one of these, I’ll never do the donut again. : )
Well, I’ve tried a and b. The “a” we spent the most money on has stayed inflated all night, and works much better than the “b” I borrowed from my cousin.
C sounds real interesting, but the link you provided to Amazon shows it as “on sale” at $29.99… I think I’ll stick with my “a” until it starts leaking :-)
The trtl is not $20, it’s $30 (well, $29.99!). I’ve used a physiotherapy cervical collar instead of a travel pillow for several years; they fold pretty flat in my bag, and they stop my head from rolling forward or sideways as I go to sleep. They also secure with velcro, so they need to be deliberately removed if you need to stand up and move around the plane. Better than all the rest…!
I’m tall, seatbacks are typically short (though getting higher) I just book a seat in a back window, if travelling with someone have them book the aisle and leave the middle empty for whomever God might bring, and if no one then we have stretch out room.
I use my bulky jacket to fill the gap in the window seat.
