As a bestselling Christian author and publisher, I coach and conduct workshops to teach others how to write their books. I see too many people focusing on the numbers of words and/or pages, rather than the message of their book. I never want to write a single word beyond my best presentation of my core message.
So, I see the future as short, to-the-point books. Today, people have bombarded with messages daily. We tweet and post VERY brief messages.
Few people are willing to sit and read a book that’s 300 or more pages. We are told that 60% of people who buy a 100 or less page book will read the entire book. Beyond that, the numbers drop dramatically.
The message should be the focus.
Steven Spatz, President, BookBaby says:”Today, roughly 20% of US readers buy eBooks exclusively; 30 percent buy only print books; and 50 percent toggle between the two.”
That’s why we publish and distribute books as eBook and paperback. Hardcover books, except for unique situations, are typically overpriced and not good sellers. Audiobooks are slowly becoming mainstream, but too slowly for me.
We focus on publishing mostly good Christian books.
