Have a look at this water purifier!
At $27 ($50 for two), the “Portable Water Filter Bottle” from our friends at 911Water.com reportedly provides the highest quality and best per-gallon value of any self-purifying bottle. We’ve heard firsthand testimony and have seen videos explaining that they exceed EPA standards for purifiers for 100+ gallons of contaminated water, provide portable protection from biological and other contaminants in emergencies, camping and international travel.
The included replaceable filters ($15 each) also remove Chlorine and provide great tasting water for 250+ gallons (1600 refills) of tap water. That’s just $.06/gallon! In daily use this takes 2,000 16oz disposable water bottles out of the landfills, at $.10+ per disposable bottle this saves you $185+, and at 16 refills/week a single filter lasts four years! These filters have a 50 year shelf-life, and may be your single most important step toward disaster preparedness.
Other self-filtering bottles are still a smart alternative to spending $1-8/gallon on disposable water bottles, but many self-filtering bottles (like the Brita) do less and cost more–REQUIRING previously sterilized (tap) water, filtering only 40 gallons/filter, and costing upwards of $.08/gallon.
Missionaries around the world use the “Portable Water Filter Bottle” from <http://911water.com/Portable-Water-Filter-Bottle-p/pfwb.htm> to – protect their health, – turn questionable water into great-tasting drinking water, and – eliminate the cost, weight, waste and uncertainty of bottled water.
Each bottle and/or filter from 911Water.com qualifies for free U.S. shipping.
What’s more, through a unique arrangement with Brigada, each purchase also generates: – a 10% rebate to you, and – a 5% commission to Brigada! I certainly don’t want to take away from any possible Brigada support, but there probably needs to be some clarification here. This is a filter bottle, not a purifying bottle. There is technically a difference. They are two different standards of filtration. This is why their site says nothing about “purification” only “filtration” (they couldn’t legally call it a purifier). It may do what you need it to do in most settings, but to obtain “purified” status, you will need to fork over a little over twice as much money.
Just a personal experience from me….we ordered a filter and some accessories worth over $200 from 911water on August 1. They billed our credit card on August 2. We still have not received anything as of August 26. We have made attempts to contact them via phone and email and have only received 2 brief emails. The latest was today. Both of them have said they are “waiting for a tracking number so they can send our order out.” If they are legitimate, it is certainly not good business practices.
Dear Mr. Nonhoff,
Thank you for reporting your experience. Unfortunately I only saw this today by accident.
I immediately contacted the owner of 911Water, who explained that the Berkey is in such high demand that orders he places with the factory are sometimes backordered, and 911Water is forced to wait for a tracking number from the factory.
The owner is eager to ensure that your concern has been resolved, and is working on a better system to see that this does not happen again. Please contact me (Robby@911Water.com) so I can ensure your concern has been resolved.
Thanks!
Dear Paul,
Thank you for your healthy skepticism about the claim of purification in a bottle. My friend who owns 911Water is encouraging the manufacturer to seek additional testing to certify what the testing has already demonstrated—that this filter provides actual purification according to the technical definition of that term.

Your personal water filter has been tested by the University of Arizona and by Spectrum Labs in accordance with the EPA Protocol for Microbiological Purifiers and ANSI/NSF 53 adapted for sport bottles. All materials FDA food grade approved. Filter is tested by EPA & State registered laboratories and meets and/or exceeds EPA, ANSI/NSF (std. 53) protocol. That means you can use to drink clean, safe, refreshing water from any fresh-water source.

This exclusive water filter element is impregnated with proprietary “absorbing” media that promotes IONIC “absorption” of pollutants within the micro-porous element, such as aluminum, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, and other dangerous heavy metals.
The media additionally acts as a micro-porous filter. The extremely small size of the pores in the filter, capture micro-organisms.

Regarding my previous post…We did finally receive our Berkey water filter a little over a month after we were billed for it. The product itself is everything they say it is. It works great. Robby is a friend of the owner of 911Water and is like a sales rep for water filters. He was very quick to give the rebate to us as well as to Brigada. My suggestion is to deal with Robby if you have any questions or concerns. He is very knowledgeable about the product and was much better at helping us with our concerns than trying to communicate directly with 911Water.
