This past week, I heard for the first time about
This site is made-to-order for teachers in a formal school setting. They use this software-as-a-service to communicate with their students about assignments, homework, and questions. So I was thinking… this is a free service for teachers — and people who share the good news (missionaries) are teachers, right? So … does anyone have any experience using this site with Bible studies and Christian courses?
I have not used EdModo but have used a similar forum in teaching New Testament and Missions classes. It can be found at http://www.schoology.com. It is designed for classroom use, primarily high school or college level. However, the format could be very successfully utilized for training where an online forum is needed. Because it is very similiar to Facebook in appearance, the interface is simple and user-friendly even for those who are not “digital natives.”
I have not used EdModo either, but as David pointed out, any of these platforms can be used effectively. I like the idea that technology is being used to stimulate conversations, not just as a place to store content.
Our MAF Learning Technologies eLearning Team has used http://www.haikulearning.com/ to do training with our international team. We like Haiku for it’s ease of creating the course. One course is free. Others are reasonably priced. Focus is K-12.
Cautions:
1. In whatever platform you use, your materials and forums are stuck in that format. Transferring to another platform is not easy, so
2. Make sure that you clarify your goals first. Knowing what you want to do, and what technology is available to your learners will dictate what platform is appropriate.
Our team has a couple of free and easy to use technology tools for offline and online course creation and delivery:

Looks very helpful, Nicholas! Thanks!
Wow — I’ve recommended this link to several people now. Nicholas, thanks so much for sharing it. Also sent a note to your website manager about a broken link to the Estante product, when jumping fom the Products page you mentioned.
In other words, it’s NOT available at:
http://maflt.org/page/estante
Estante is available by viewing it here though:
