BRIGADA-PERSECUTED-CHURCH
This new addition to the
Brigada family is a weekly newsletter devoted to bringing together in one place news about the persecuted church. While reader input is invited, it is not a discussion list. In addition to the newsletter, urgent prayer requests may be issued periodically when time is of the essence. Particular care is given to security issues in sensitive world areas. To receive this weekly newsletter send any message the address:
join-brigada-persecuted-church@xc.org.
BRIGADA-MEDICAL-MISSIONS
While this discussion list has been in the
Brigada family for several years, it has remained fairly inactive. We are seeking to revitalize it. We invite anyone with an interest in medical missions to join. Health professionals, mission executives, and especially people in the field will find this a good place to share information and resources, connect for long and short-term projects, and pray for medical missions and health care around the world. Discussion of general relief work is also welcome. To join this open discussion group send any message to the address:
join-brigada-medical-missions@xc.org.
GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM THE UAE
The United Arab Emirates is one of the countries of the 10/40 window, and is 85% Muslim. Nevertheless, San Antonio evangelist Sammy Tippit has been able to preach an evangelistic message in open air meetings in Dubai, UAE’s capital. “Spiritual Eruption Dubai,” as the campaign is called, has seen converts from Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism through the course of the four meetings, which also include an Arabic language choir and translation into Arabic. Messages are being videotaped and will be beamed by satellite to the entire gulf area.

NEW FIVE-WEEK MISSIONS CURRICULUM
Are you looking for an interactive adult curriculum that can be used in Sunday school classes, small groups or with short-term teams? “Discovering Our Place in His Plans” has just been released. It addresses: What will happen to those who have never heard or responded to the Gospel? What is the status of global outreach? How can I be involved meaningfully in God’s agenda? How can my church participate in God’s global cause? It is a great tool to use during missions conferences. For more information, contact NextStep Resources at
NextStep@efca.org or 800-444-BOOK.

GET “ACTIVE EARTH” SOFTWARE
If you enjoy world time clocks, you’ll like Active Earth. At least Tim thinks so!
He recommends it! Cloudless satellite photographs of our planet are the backdrop for the program, a sophisticated world time program that tracks the movement of the sun across the face of the earth in real time. The areas in daylight are shown in colorful detail, and the portions of the globe in darkness are displayed in the pale glow of the moon–look closely and you’ll even see the city lights shining out into space from major metropolitan centers. A row of clocks below the image provides the current time in cities around the world. You can create additional clocks for more than 500 locations and have those cities displayed on the image of Earth. Other features of ActiveEarth include graphical plotting of time zones and differences between cities, visual tools for understanding the movement of the sun and moon over the globe, and the ability to synchronize your PC’s clock with atomic clock servers via the Internet. DISCLAIMER — Please note that there’s no way we can possibly screen all the text on all the web sites or items we recommend. We try to check them out first… but if we miss something, please don’t assume that the opinions on those sites are identical to those of the Brigada family of networks. “Eat the corn, leave the cob!”
For subscription questions or problems, write help@brigada.org.
SUBMITTING CONTENT — To submit content or ideas to Brigada Today, first please get a copy of “Guidelines for submitting items to Brigada” Then, once you’ve composed your item in keeping with those guidelines, send your item for Brigada Today to DLucas@teamexpansion.org.
Thanks to for hosting the Brigada mailing list.
Emphasis is placed on items relating to unreached peoples and challenges faced by those reaching them cross-culturally.
PLEASE DON’T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST — It’s always better to ask before manually force-adding anyone to your list-serve or mailing list. Recently, tons of well-meaning people have been subscribing Doug to their lists. Since he often travels overseas, he doesn’t join many of those, for obvious reasons (like being charged big-time for overseas access). So as a general rule, please don’t bulk-mail us! See the note above if you’d like to submit items for Brigada Today. Thanks for understanding. Bottom line: We will never create Brigada Today items from bulk mail. Bulk mail gets deleted immediately — sorry. Nothing personal. We suggest you apply the same standard to everyone. Ask first!
WARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS — Please, before forwarding any kind of request (even if it says “please send this to all your friends”), please check to make sure it has a VERIFIABLE ORIGIN, a VERIFIABLE PURPOSE, and a VERIFIABLE CLOSURE (OPC). By following this simple approach, many “email viruses” could be nipped in the bud… at least in the Brigada family. More information about the full Brigada OPC protocol is available. Thank you.
