1998 MEDICAL MISSION CONFERENCE ALREADY GAINING GROUND
David Thompson, a surgeon who is a career missionary in Gabon, West Africa, will share Thurs. night. He’s the guy you’ve seen at the end of the Generation tape series — “Do you want the king to come???! Other speakers include Drs. Duane & Muriel Elmer, Dr. Christine Sine, and many others. For more information, call Stephanie Garling, 502-451-5317, extension 4725, or write garlingfamily@juno.com.
SO WHY DID FRANCE WIN?
Perhaps the same thing can be said for missions. When a team of missionaries is fighting out there, an ocean apart from those who raised them and paid for their preparation, the field of life can seem pretty large and overwhelming. Add 80,000 fans and a few cheers and you’ve got yourself a ball game!
So — next time you send a team overseas — short-term or long — remember France ’98. Even if your team has to face opponents like Ronaldo, their attacks will sometimes melt before their very eyes if you cheer on your team! How do you do that??? With prayer, notes of encouragement, looking out for their best, holding them accountable to plans/visions/dreams, and by helping them find confidence and a will to win! If all those things are truly in place, maybe nobody will be able to stop your team!

Emphasis is placed on items relating to unreached peoples and challenges faced by those reaching them cross-culturally.
PLEASE DON’T SUBSCRIBE US TO YOUR LIST — It’s always better to ask before manually force-adding anyone to your list-serve or mailing list. Recently, tons of well-meaning people have been subscribing Doug to their lists. Since he often travels overseas, he doesn’t join many of those, for obvious reasons (like being charged big-time for overseas access). So as a general rule, please don’t bulk-mail us! See the note above if you’d like to submit items for Brigada Today. Thanks for understanding. Bottom line: We will never create Brigada Today items from bulk mail. Bulk mail gets deleted immediately — sorry. Nothing personal. We suggest you apply the same standard to everyone. Ask first!
WARNING ABOUT FORWARDING EMAILS — Please, before forwarding any kind of request (even if it says “please send this to all your friends”), please check to make sure it has a VERIFIABLE ORIGIN, a VERIFIABLE PURPOSE, and a VERIFIABLE CLOSURE (OPC). By following this simple approach, many “email viruses” could be nipped in the bud… at least in the Brigada family. More information about the full Brigada OPC protocol is available. Thank you.
