It’s time we call in the cavalry. As we mentioned previously, several Brigada users have complained that their email-version Brigada is arriving completely “blank.” But the funny thing is, when they send us a copy of a sample “invisible Brigada,” we can read their sample just fine. So it’s as if Brigada is invisible in THEIR email client, but not in ours? How can this be? Any theories? To date, we’ve not been able to determine any common theme — email client, browser, etc.
Of course (please help spread the word to users with invisible Brigadas because they won’t be able to see this item! :-) ), when your email version of Brigada arrives, you COULD just use it as a trigger to go to Brigada on the web at…
https://brigada.org
Because Brigada on the web is always posted first anyway.
In other news, one Brigada user complained that her copy of Brigada was snipped prematurely in Gmail. I’m not a gmail expert by any means, but I couldn’t find any indication that there is a “message length” or even default message view. Is there? If so, does anyone know the limit? Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Just click “Comment” following the web version of this item to respond.
When my family served overseas many of our emails home arrived “blank” but when the recipient clicked “reply”, the email magically appeared at the bottom of the reply email. It was an easy solution to a problem we never understood.
I have a gmail account using MS Outlook email client on Windows 7. The Brigada email always comes through blank. On the gmail web client the email is normal.
Since you updated/changed Brigada, our weekly emails have been truncated at about paragraph 6 or 7 with a statement to click here to see the full message. I’m using Windows 7, Internet Explorer 11 and Yahoo Mail. Haven’t played with it in other system variations but I will.
This is the second week in a row that the Brigada email message has appeared blank. FYI, I have been using Windows Live Mail for perhaps two years (ever since I moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 and 8 and 8.1 and have never received “invisible” messages until now.
Using Gmail in Chrome browser on Windows 8.1, and using the Android Gmail app, the Brigada email is always truncated. Scrolling to the bottom of the email, there is a link that says: [Message clipped] View entire message (hyperlink). Clicking this opens the entire email in a separate window.
You started making the emails fancier & fancier until they recently vanished. :( Never seen this before. I (yes, still!) run ancient Outlook Express 6 under XP-pro SP3.
The source comes through and looks, to my barely-trained eye, just like any other email which displays fully. Beats me!
Oh, and when I forward it, the new message that opens is still blank, and when it comes through to myself it is also still blank.
Last time I saw this happen, it was because somehow I received the HTML email as WHITE characters on a WHITE background.
When I did a select all , all the text showed up as highlighted. I then copied it and pasted to Notepad and it was all visible.
I don’t know all the technical reasons why, but it was something to do with white characters on a white background.
Gmail always snip/trims long Emails. It provides a link at the end to to view the whole message which opens a new Gmail window.
Of course if you view your Email through a program such as Thunderbird/Outlook etc then you by-pass this ‘feature.’
My aol account has received Brigada as a blank page, just the past one or two weeks, counting this one. Bozo factor.
My email versions have been blank for about 4 weeks, the reply suggestion didn’t work, it has never happened with any other emails. I use Windows live mail and xtra.co.nz
gday Doug mine is a bit different, as shared before have signed up three times for email version yet none arrived. hummmm
Hi Ted. I assume you’ve checked your junk mail?
checked the emailing service we use. It had experienced several “bounces” in a row from your email carrier and had classified your address as a “permanent bounce.” I’ve “unbounced it” and I hope that will fix it for you Ted.
Please add the editor@brigada.org email address to your address book or spam white list.
The email is till arriving blank. Any progress on a solution?
Yes! The vendor of the utility we use to produce the email version has promised that the problem is fixed and will show up as fixed in the next WordPress update. should be (hopefully) in time for next edition. Thanks for your patience.
Still blank.
It came through this time! Thanks for keeping at it.
