As an IT security guy this is deeply worrying to me. Governments have an incredibly poor track record of IT security and the few digital ID apps that made it to the market in the last years have been abysmal from that perspective (see esp. the Australian digital drivers license; ). When they first come out, I’ll guarantee you that they will be used for nefarious purposes for the first several years until the world governments get a handle on them. The illegal immigrant problem is going to explode with this. They are also going to make access to creative access countries much more difficult as the world’s identity-based computer systems interconnect. Imagine getting sent away from China for speaking about Christ and then getting stopped at the border of Bangladesh where you want to vacation (no proclamation intended) or even entering your home country because you have a flag on you from the other nation. That is what digital IDs will make very easy to do. They will create a means and method of control that will allow the world order to fight the spread of the Gospel far more effectively than they already do. Even though we have the internet, it still takes face to face and side by side witnessing to achieve true spiritual growth. So let us not hail these digital passports as a positive thing. It is not.
