I remember when I was about to graduate from high school, for better or worse, I had just scored pretty high on a college placement test. My guidance counselor found out that I was going to a Bible college. He called me in and said, “Doug, there’s so much you could do with your life. *Any* person could go study the Bible. But *you*… you could do go into science, medicine, engineering, and a multitude of other higher disciplines. Please don’t sell yourself short.” He was basically saying, “Don’t waste your life.” That was 1975. You know, I look back over the past nearly-50 years and I have to say, I only have one regret: I just wish I could give one thousand lifetimes doing the very thing I’ve been doing for the past half-a-century. Think about it: If you could change one thing in this world, wouldn’t you rather help someone change his or her eternal destiny? The one thing I feel like I have *not* done is waste my life. For more on this concept, watch this video by a local church in Santa Barbara, California. They get it. Does your church get it? Do *you*?
