Muslims wordwide have just completed the celebration, Eid-ul-Adha. All though it has no direct relation to the Hajj Pilgrimage, it immediately after the journey – so it FEELs like they’re linked. One of our good friends in Muslim ministry wrote, “The festival is celebrated to commemorate Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. On this day, Muslims offer special prayers, sacrifice animals, and distribute meat to the poor. The day is also marked by feasting, exchanging gifts, and spending time with family and friends. This is a difficult time for Muslim background believers. They are torn between their faith in Jesus and the traditions celebrated with family and friends.”

Of course, Christians believe that Jesus is our sacrifice once forever. Our friends continued, “Christian’s have no need to sacrifice animals year after year. Pray that Muslim background believers will find loving opportunities to share their faith in Jesus, the Lamb of God, who takes away our sins by faith in his sacrifice for us.” Pray that we’ll be good learners of celebrations like these so that we can be viewed as friends, rather than foes. And pray that, in all these experiences, somehow, Christ will become known as the personal Savior that He is. (And thanks to our good friends who join us in loving Muslims worldwide.)
