Just in case you hadn’t noticed, we received quite a bit of mail regarding our confusion about why the USA hadn’t fared as well as the EU when it comes to Covid-19. (See the item: https://brigada.org/2020/06/28_29379.) Now, the question begs to be asked: Will the coveted USA-passport be shunned as Coronavirus infections rise in over 40 states?

I was talking with a partner in Asia and they were pretty sure people from the US were not going to be able to travel to their country until 2022. They didn’t have any inside knowledge. It just seemed incredibly unlikely to them that their country would allow us to enter anytime in the near future.
I worry about how the reputation of the American church and American missionary has suffered.
I am an American working as a longterm missionary. Almost every single day someone I meet here asks me what in the world is happening in America. They crack jokes. They are crying. They are disappointed and shocked.
Our closet door is wide open. Our masks are off.
They know it is not just the media that has a problem. They read what American friends and family are saying. They are on Facebook and witness how even Christian speaks to Christian.
At this point in history it is delicate for Americans to be the ones to speak about wisdom, unity, leadership, submission, justice, kindness or health.
I am a US citizen but firstly I am a subject in the Kingdom of God. This is the fact that keeps me going.
Mary, you are articulating EXACTLY what we feared might be happening. Thank you for taking time to respond.
