If you live overseas then CapitalOne quicksilver is hard to beat. They never charge overseas transaction fees (also the reason why I use CapitalOne360 as my bank – I can go to the ATM for free anywhere and get up to $1k in a day) and you’re still getting 1.5% back.
I have used Discover for a number of years and have been very happy with it. Unfortunately, it is not as widely accepted as VISA or MasterCard, but they have great customer service, no hassle fraud protection and great cash back bonus program. You can link the reward dollars to your Amazon account and it is like getting an Amazon gift card every month!
