Setting up the account can apparently be tricky if you’re overseas when you sign up, setting the account up in someone else’s name. This is apparently because the service is honestly trying to prevent fraud, so that’s a good thing. But assuming you can talk someone in your homeland into signing you up and you can get past the front end gymnastics, you’re looking at being able to send international texts to groups of prayer supporters for a couple of pennies per text per person.
