For some time now, we’ve been recommending the “Round Trip” training materials for short-term workers, originally published by Christianity Today. See it, for example, at…
http://www.stemintl.org/publications/order/product/mr60
However, we’re hearing rumors that this curriculum has now gone out of print. Can anyone verify this? And, if so, has anyone found anything that can compare — reasonably priced, reproducible, effective, interesting? Please click “comment” below the web version of this item to share your own findings. And thanks in advance for filling us in.
There are great resources for maximizing the effectiveness of your short term trip at http://stmt.wordpress.com/manuals/
All the resources there are free.
We have also used Tim Dearborn’s “Short-term Missions – From Mission Tourists to Global Citizens”
It is good materail, has a nice workbook and a believe a power point. it doen’t have the nice DVD lessons thoguh. http://www.amazon.com/Short-Term-Missions-Workbook-Tourists-ebook/dp/B00408AKRG
I believe you can get the DVD by request only… also, if you remember Tim Dearborn is featured on the Round Trip DVD ..
A great resource is Mission Launch Team Training by Eric and Carol Hanson, Mission Excell. A user-friendly manual and a motivational DVD of training content, if you want the author to teach.
Check out the Standards of Excellence (SOE) in Short-Term Missions at http://www.soe.org for 7 main STM best practices. Click on the Resources/STM Resources link and open the pdf for a fairly comprehensive list of materials categorized by topic with some that are especially recommended by the SOE committee, including those mentioned above in other comments.
