Sounds a bit like double-speak, but it’s just the catapult you need to help speed up your natural language-learning abilities. Brigada participant, Bob, has taught at the Missionary Training Center (formerly New Tribes Language Institute) for the last 30+ years. After seeing our appeal recently for effective schools in PARTICULAR languages, he asked that we back up and look at centers that taught participants the art of learning languages in GENERAL. And he’s right. We need to profile those as well. The three he mentioned are probably the most well known. According to Bob, the school where he works, Missionary Training Center, is designed for learning unwritten languages.

But one could also study at Mission Training International and the Center for Intercultural Training.
(Thanks Bob!)
Another great Second Language Acquisition course is offered by the Institute for Cross-Cultureal Trainin at Wheaton College.
There are a couple of things that make this course especially beneficial:
#1. It’s all online so participants have no travel costs. The cost is very affordable for a 2-week course.
#2. Participants learn better because they get individualized teaching. No one ever gets “left behind” becasue the class move on before they really get the concept.
#3. It’s being offered more often than it was when it was a residential course.
