On March 6th, Brigada is sponsoring a day-retreat at Emerald Hills in Louisville, Kentucky. The focus? How to become a guardian for the planet. Study under master eco-missiologist, Ed Brown, Director of Care of Creation and author of, “Our Father’s World.” He helped create one of the first ‘environmental missions’ organizations with a goal of mobilizing the Church toward a God-centered response to the environmental crisis. He has written, “One of the things creation does is reveal the Creator (‘…since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities… have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…’ Romans 1:20), and we are foolish indeed to ignore such a powerful evangelistic tool.” So it doesn’t matter whether you work in Bangladesh or Burma, Bhutan or Brazil, Belgium or Brownstown, living on the planet is, at least for now, one thing we all have in common. Find out how to make good use of that factor as a platform for evangelism and missions. All the while, you’ll be expressing your love for God by healing and restoring his damaged creation. Ed Brown believes that “helping people live in a way that will preserve their farmland or allow them to drink pure water is as much an expression of love as treating a sick child or helping rebuild a house destroyed by a hurricane.” Learn more about Ed’s organization, Care of Creation, at…

The day-retreat runs 8am -4:45pm, including 2 prayer walks on the beautiful prayer trails at Emerald Hills. And now, thanks to some key donations from others, you can attend the entire day, including lunch, for just $39. Reconnect with creation, reconnect with God, and reconnect with missions — all at a beautiful wooded site on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky. Hosted by Doug Lucas, who would love to meet you. But sign up today… seating is limited.
I am very dubious of this unless it is simply marketing – trying to bring in folks with the faddish “green” lingo. You want to “help the planet?” Virtually all of the green solutions hurt the poor: denying them fuel, requiring them to dam their rivers for hydro energy, grow crops for biofuels, plant trees for carbon offsets… all destroys farmland for food. Help the planet; go capitalism.
can this be taped since traveling to kentucky from california is pricey and not necessary environmentally friendly. i believe it is a valid hook for evangelism while at the same time, i believe promoting sustainability and energy efficiency and effectiveness can help people save money and the planet.
Hi William. I wish you’d give this workshop a chance. I think it’s a viable platform for entering sensitive locations *and* I think God would be glorified by respecting His creation. Just give it a listen before you criticize it please.
Ron, we can certainly try to do that. Ed Brown, our lead speaker, might have protocols on that… but we’ll try. Thanks for your interest.
Also — to those who might have tried and gotten the response “registration is closed,” we’re reopened it at the lower price now. Please try again.
