Try PrimoPDF (alias PDFCreator). It’s fast, it’s effective, and it’s free. See it at…

As far as we can tell, there are no malware or adware programs installed. You can choose a paid version… NitroPDF Professional, but even it is just $69 (but only ’til Nov. 30th). With the free version, you get a file similar to a “printer driver.” When you send a file to that “printer”, it creates a PDF instead. So you can start with any program, … including 2003 versions of Word, Excel, or Powerpoint. Best of all, the “PDFCreator” version, like we mentioned above, is free.
Just a few minutes before reading your email, I saw NitroPDF at Fry’s for “free” — http://www.frys.com/product/6046838
Thanksgiving Day only, though.
I’ve been using PrimoPDF for a couple of years. It works great, is easy to use, and produces perfect PDF documents. It works just like a printer driver. Click “Print” in your document application, select PrimoPDF as your printer, and a new PDF is created.
I second that, Charles! I’ve been using PrimoPDF for years, getting the updates when needed (every few years), easily installing on new machines, and always free. It’s a great tool to convert ANYTHING that I can print (i.e. MapQuest, photos, docs, etc.) into a PDF to more reliable send as e-mail attachments.
So — it’s hard to understand why we’re all buying Adobe Acrobat Standard then! :-)
I happily used PrimoPDF for several years, but after installing it on a new computer, I began having problems…like incomplete files. So I switched to CutePDF which does the very same thing, but doesn’t seem to balk at large files or send you messages about upgrading to Nitro every other day.
I think you’re right, Jan. It *does* look like a better deal. Thanks for the tip.
Gotta love these software writers that give a break to those using this stuff for non-commercial use.
I tried to download Primo several times on Windows XP, but it won’t open. It says it didn’t install right.

Hi Duane. Try Jan’s suggestion:

See if that works better.
I’ve been using Primo PDF for years, on multiple XP computers. I love it. I can control the document quality (graphics) in order to keep pdf file sizes fairly small without unduly sacrificing quality. Fantastic!
