ONLY 9 MORE SHOPPING DAYS ‘TIL “PRAYING THROUGH THE WINDOW III”
… and for your last minute stocking stuffer, “TR” came up with just the tip. I checked it out myself and sure enough, AD2000 has put a little known file on their web site — a WinWord summary (digest version) of the Praying through the Windows III Unreached Peoples book! Find it at http://www.ad2000.org by clicking on PTWIII tools. As TR wrote, ” It is perfect for those who forgot to order books in time or can’t afford a large number. You have permission to photocopy as many as needed.” Have at it. I hope we all download it together so much that AD2000’s computers feel the pull of our combined FTP-ing! :-) Get ready for some hits, Dan Scribner!!! :-)

MOBILIZING YOUR CITY TO PRAY THROUGH THE WINDOW
A group of churches and ministries in the Denver, Colorado area have decided to ride the wave of momentum associated with Praying Through the Window III this October by sponsoring a series of Concerts of Prayer. The last four Friday’s in October they will host a cross-denominational Concert of Prayer focusing on the unreached peoples targeted that week in Praying Through the Window III.
Here is the real pay day…if you are out there thinking, “I’d really like to do that but I’m not sure how to pull off a Concert of Prayer or what exactly to pray for…”, do we have a deal for you?! Kingdom Building Ministries, one of the participating organizations, is prepared to email you tips on leading a concert of prayer and the specific outline (including prayer requests) the group in Denver will be using each week. Just send an email message to KBM Laborers@KBM.org and ask for Concert of Prayer Tips/Prayer Outline. You can’t lose. And the price is right. :-) Be sure to tell ’em Brigada sent you. They’ll probably throw in a few free airline tickets to accompany one of their prayer journey teams! Okay. So I’m kidding about the airline tickets. But the outlines are for real. :-)

PIT-STOP RALEIGH RALLIES… PIT-STOP TULSA TALLIES
“This material is exactly what our church needed to launch an adopt-a-people program!” That’s what one participant reported after having attended Pit-Stop Raleigh this past weekend at Peace College in Raleigh, NC. Hosted by the Cary Christian Church, the Pit-Stop represented a landmark event in PACE Project history, in which a local church handled 99% of the set-up and arrangements for a program designed to help other local churches assume all the more responsibility in finishing the task. “Exciting,” responded one participant, whose local church ended up mapping out its basic preliminary strategy through the next 15 years!!! Thanks to Cary for a job well done! Now . . . saddle up for Tulsa, where Pit-Stop Tulsa will prepare all the more congregations and cooperating agencies! Register through the Envision ’97 office at wbirney11@aol.com (800-972-1137 or fax 316-668-5220) for the event that is scheduled for Oct. 10th, 8am – 4pm in the Doubletree Hotel across from the Tulsa Convention Center, downtown. Cost is minimal… $15, which includes a planning notebook and diskette. (These materials aren’t mailed out to non-attenders, but will be placed on the Internet at https://brigada.org/pace in the “Tools and Resources” section as a download.) For full details, including a schedule, see the web site (above) or write a message to hub@xc.org with only these words in the text of the message:

WHERE TO BUY ALMOST ANYTHING . . .
…. well, almost anything that missionaries have to buy, that is! Ken has shared his list of places to buy PAL VCR’s, PAL TV’s, multisystem VCR’s and TV’s, PAL and multisystem video projectors, overhead projectors, 16 millimeter projectors, 220 volt 50 hertz equipment, appliances for overseas, information on overseas shipping and a little information on airplane travel or travel agencies to call when traveling abroad. I’m tellin’ ya… this is a jewel of a file that would be a great starter for anybody’s address book. How long will it take me to copy and paste all this stuff into my Ecco Pro/PalmPilot file!!! :-) But it’ll be well worth it. Get it by sending email to [you guessed it! :-) hub@xc.org with only this line in the text of the message:

“THEY HAVE MY LANGUAGE”
So where do you turn when you want books, videos, tracts, etc in different languages? One resource you can contact is
Multilanguage Media
PO Box 301
Ephrata Pa 17522,
tel. 717-738-0582
email mlminfo@multilanguage.com
website http://www.multilanguage.com
They have material (including Scriptures — either the complete Bible or NT or sometimes just portions, depending on how much has been translated) in about 100 languages ranging from Africaans to Yoruba to others like Croatian- Laotian-Romanian, Twi, Urdu, etc. That doesn’t include the hundreds of languages that they have available in the JESUS video. Says one very satisfied Brigada Today reader, “Its great to hand a catalog to someone and have them respond with ‘They have MY language!'” Funny that Shirley sent this item early last week and within 48 hours, I had already passed it on to a telephone inquiry in our office wanting scriptures in a foreign language! So . . . be sure to add Multilanguage Media to your address book for that next inquiry!

FOR YOUR FINELY FOCUSED FAR-FLUNG FARSI FRIENDS
The Gospels of Matthew and Mark in the Farsi language are now edited and ready for distribution. The Gospel of Matthew is a 3-tape set ($9) and the Gospel of Mark is a 2 tape set ($7). Sets of ten or more are reduced to $5.50 each for Matthew and $4.00 each for the Gospel of Mark. According to one source, these sets come with beautiful cassette labels that have titles and information all in Farsi. Audio Scripture Ministries http://millennianet.com/asm/ has gone on record (pun intended) saying that this recording is exceptionally well done. They’re trying to finish the Gospel in three weeks and the entire NT by January of next year. Bravo, Audio Scriptures! Keep it up!

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM CURRENT EVENTS
With the homegoing of Mother Teresa last week much of the world attention is focused on India. She and her disciples have so far rescued 52,000 sick and dying destitutes from the streets. Teresa, by her service in the name of Christ, made more positive impact on Indians than any other Christian in this century. Sister Nirmala will succeed her as Mother. Hers is just one of 100s of indigenous Indian mission agencies reaching out with Christ’s love to both the poor and the unreached peoples in India. Many of these missions have banded together to form the India Missions Association which works to share information and strategy for the evangelization of India.
(Source: INDIA MAIL, Chennai, India September 8, 1997. INDIA MAIL is a weekly internet mail edited by IMA. http://www.ad2000.org/ima/overview.htm
Global Glimpse is compiled each week by John Hanna, who wears an ever-so-small earring at Caleb Project, Littleton, CO. :-) Hm. Generation X. :-)

WATCH FOR ATTACHED “.DOC” FILES!
The word on the street is that a message with subject line, “for your perusal” has an attached WinWord file with a WinWord virus. Note that you can never get viruses from email (so disregard all the myths like “AOL Gold” and zillions of others) — but if you double click on an attached file with a “.doc” extension, it just might have a WinWord virus built in! So — bottom line — don’t ever read attachments you didn’t request… especially if they have anything other than “.txt” extensions. For extra insurance, upgrade to Office ’97 and make sure you go to “Tools-Options-General” and check “Macro Virus Protection” (ie., be sure there’s an X in front of it). And . . . please, please don’t start another round of 6 zillions emails warning all your friends and neighbors. Remember — the virus is the fact that we waste all the Internet bandwidth just talking about the possibility that there might be a virus! :-)

HE’S GOT A PERSECUTION COMPLEX!
… in a matter of speaking. Because he’s looking for every web site and reference work on persecution! He wants anything that will help him keep up with the news about persecuted Christians and Christian groups throughout the world. Says Joel, “It is my desire to keep them in prayer and to be relevant to their needs I need information about them.” Makes sense! Email joeldraper@worldnet.att.net today with your referral, reference, or URL. He’ll compile them an report back to us here in two weeks.

YAGISP – “YET ANOTHER GLOBAL INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER”
:-) But hey, if you’re fed up with your current Internet Service Provider (for some reason) :-) then maybe you’d like to try iPass — http://www.ipass.com. They’ve put together a global internet roaming system working with over 122 Internet Service Providers (ISP) through a local telephone call from more than 1100 points of presence in more than 750 cities and 150 countries worldwide. Registration through iPass allows local access through any of the participating ISPs. Now if I can just remember to put the “P” in upper case and lower the “i” !!! (Try typing that last sentence in WinWord ’97! You’ve literally got to go to Tools-Autocorrect to scroll down and find the line that turns “i” into “I” — or else it keeps upper casing the “i” into “I” whether you want it to or not! When will these machines automatically know what we want instead of what they think we want! :-) ) Thanks for the tip, Dave! Now suppose you wanted to shop around even more for a great global ISP? Well you’re in luck. David scribe@goodviews.com.au has agreed to collect a list! So — send your favorite global ISP (ie., an Internet Service Provider) to David and he’ll compile the list and report back here in a couple of weeks. Be sure to give him feedback on the “roaming” services’ effectiveness of access from multiple sites/countries — (or lack thereof)!

AWM HAS MORE THAN ONE
Oops. Last week we said, “Arab World Ministry” and it’s supposed to be Arab World Ministries! Guess they’ve just kept going and going . . . and going . . . . . . . :-)

EVERYTHING YOU WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT MUSLIMS
Have you heard about the eight-week Institute of Islamic Studies (IIS) to be held at Asia Pacific Theological Seminary (APTS) in Baguio, Philippines from April 20-June 12, 1998? Its primary goal is to train national leaders for ministry to Muslims. Many students will come from Asian nations, but it is open to all with an interest in this area of ministry. The roster of profs sounds like a “most wanted” list for Muslim experts! Dr. Phil Parshall, Dr. Robert Douglas, Dr. Don McCurry and Warren Chastain, all of whom have authored significant works in this area and taught at the Zwemer Institute and/or Fuller Seminary. They’ll also have missionaries involved with ministry to Muslims. The cost for a single student covering the full eight-weeks of instruction, room and board, textbooks and materials is only $700. Couples can also be accommodated. Up to nine units of academic credit are available from APTS at additional cost ($15/credit hour plus misc. fees) and can be applied toward their M.A. in Missions or transferred to another institution (students wishing to do this should consult with their own school). To receive a brochure or further information contact APTS at apts@xc.org. Now why didn’t I plan this thing. A first-rate training program . . . and all I get to do is report on it!

OKAY – YOU READ THIS FAR – NOW HELP US IMPROVE THESE TITLES
Paul wants us to make these titles “hot,” so that readers can simply click on them to bounce down to the precise location in the email where they begin. Can anyone email me a brief explanation about how that technology works? Does it make the links visible to every email client (including AOL, Cserve, etc.)? Can we use it out of Eudora Pro or would we have to use Netscape’s Communicator client? Help!!! Please write DLucas@TeamExpansion.org with the answers… Inquiring readers want to click… not “pgdn”!!! :-) Thanks.

NEW RESTRICTIONS IN RUSSIA
Mark Elliott reported this past week that on September 19, the Russian Duma approved a law, “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations,” by a vote of 358 to 6, with one fourth of representatives abstaining. Apparently President Yeltsin has already approved the wording of this draft, and it is expected that the upper house of the Russian legislature, the Federation Council, will quickly approve the legislation.
According to Mark, if implemented and enforced as written it will recognize a privileged few “traditional” religions as acceptable, while limiting less favored “religious groups.” Fifteen years of state registration on good behavior would be required before a “religious group” could aspire to become a “religious organization.” Mark wrote, “It is unclear at this moment how seriously the expatriate missionary community will be affected. But in one strongly Communist provincial city a missionary was told by local officials earlier this week that if the law passed his family would have 24 hours to leave the country.” Yikes. Mark went on to write that “If the new law is implemented and enforced as written it could lead to the largest expulsion of missionaries from a single country since China after 1949.” Should we start praying yet?
