NEW DATABASE UPDATE ON THE WORLD’S PEOPLES – FOR U$S 15 !!!
It’s nice to know there are people who want to give something for the cause of world evangelism!!! Here’s a guy who has done years of research and he wants to virtually give it away to you for the cost of the disks! Why??? Because he’s a believer in the CAUSE! Thanks to John Gilbert for making the “Integrated Status of Global Evangelization Annual Report–Electronic Version” available for $15!!! This report is an annual “snapshot” of the status of global evangelization prepared for the Foreign Mission Board. It is based on the levels of evangelization of the world’s peoples and utilizes the Integrated Strategic Planning Database (ISPD). The set of seven diskettes is offered to mission agencies, denominations, and Christian organizations to further facilitate strategic planning for the unfinished task of global evangelization. (You’ll need Windows 3.1 or Win95 to run it.) Throw in $4 and he’ll even send you the associated screen saver disks! :-) And get this!!! Give him $4 more and he’ll send you a 10 megabyte Powerpoint file to present it!!! I’m tellin’ you — when I grow up, I want to be like John Gilbert! Send your check for whatever to Foreign Mission Board, SBC, P.O. Box 6767, Richmond, VA 23230, Fax 804-254-8980, 753-8054@MCIMAIL.COM.

FOLLOW UP TO “FROM THE “SOMETHING USEFUL FOR 15 CENTS” DEPARTMENT”
Several users gave us other options for on-line internet faxing. The most commonly recommended was Faxaway at https://ronin.kallback.com/faxaway/applic.cgi. (Thanks to John and others for that info!) For info, send email to faxinfo@kom.net. This company charges by the exact time used to send your fax, so some insist that it’s cheaper to use than faxSave. Sure enough, when I tried the service, it was a no-brainer! My first fax went through painlessly in just moments . . . and our readers were right . . . they only would have charged 5 cents (instead of the 15 cent minimum on faxSave). However — keep in mind that faxSave is the cheapest to use for the next four days! :-) Their “100,000 free faxes” giveaway ceases on August 1st, so if you want to fax for free big-time, get on board quickly by reading last week’s Brigada Today again! (What?!!! You didn’t save it??? Send email to hub@xc.org with only this line:
get brigada brigada-today.960719
Alternatively, you can try http://town.hall.org/ which hooks you up with TPC and all those free fax servers. Why didn’t I think of mentioning that before! :-) Thanks to Wayne from Auckland!!!
Others recommended http://www.hotmail.com which allows you to send email via the web. There’s no email bounce back address, since . . . if you don’t have unlimited web access, you can’t use this service anyway.

…AND HERE’S ANOTHER MISSIONS CONFERENCE IN DALLAS

“DID YOU KNOW…” (FUN FACTS TO KNOW AND TELL)
Thanks to all who wrote regarding last week’s “Did you know…” Turns out that lots of people and monkeys eat bananas from the bottom, but some apparently break it in half and eat it from the middle! :-) (Would that be “Oreo style”?) But the best response was from Ed who said he had learned to “fellowship with brothers regardless of what end they started at.” :-) Thanks to Amber, Dave, Ed, and all the others who responded!

CURRICULUM IDEAS ANYONE?
Remember back in February, when we had a request for Sunday School missions lessons? Well here’s another one. In the process, we’ll try to get a summary this time: “Greetings. I appreciate your work and that of others in compiling missions news on Brigada. What a wonderful resource for up-to-date news. I am using it for a “Missions Spotlight” insert in our church’s monthly newsletter. I am missions chairman at my church, and we are considering a mission-oriented Sunday school class or mid-week small group. I’m trying to determine if there are any resources for such an endeavor, such as books, study guides, etc. The key goal of the group would be prayer, but also information distribution and perhaps training for individuals going out on short term missions projects. Can you suggest any resources that might be useful. Sincerely, Lyle D. Olson, Brookings, SD.” If you’ve got an idea, write olsonl@ur.sdstate.edu and Lyle, please get us a summary after two weeks, okay? Thanks!

INPUT SOUGHT FOR MENTORING NEW MISSIONARIES
Thanks to Brigada encouragers! Scott Wood wrote this past week to say, “I have just started getting Brigada Today and absolutely love it. [blush ] I am the Assistant Director of the School Of Missions at Christ For The Nations. What a great resource this is gonna be for us! [blusher ] My job is to get our students to the field in a healthy, responsible way. Our approach is to get a new missionary to the field under a seasoned ministry – on the field they feel called to long-term. At best, we are feeling our way through this process and if anyone has ideas, we would be appreciative. We already have some things in place, but kind of feel like we could use the input Brigada Today people can offer. [blushest ] God bless you for all your doing to help fulfill the Great Commission!” So now that he’s said all this nice stuff, who’s going to write the guy and say something . . . noteworthy!?? :-) Write him at TSWood1962@aol.com. And please thank him for the kind words! :-) . . .and Scott, please get us a summarized copy of what you receive, okay? Thanks!

GLOBAL GLIMPSE
This year the Global March for Jesus began May 24th, with 50,000 Tongans, led by the King and Queen of Tonga. During the early hours of Saturday morning, millions more Christians marched in countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Mongolia, the Philippines and Cambodia. By midnight, Saturday, May 25th, up to 12 million people from 170 nations marched in a massive series of co-ordinated street marches over a 24 hour period. This incredible feat is set to write itself into the history books as the largest mobilization of people for a one-day event in the history of mankind.
