DID YOU KNOW… (FUN FACTS TO KNOW AND TELL)
Just as we thought we were about to settle the whole story on HDC (Hemispheric Drain Conditions), we’re faced with Chris McDermott’s perplexing question, “Why do tea leaves go to the middle of the cup when you stir the tea?” Even more gripping is the fact that much of the world doesn’t get to verify this phenomenon, since they don’t get to use real tea leaves anymore!

“THE WHOLE STORY” ABOUT HUSSEIN – CHAPTER TWO
For those interested in following the story of Robert Hussein, be sure to check out the new Hussein update on the hub. Hussein is a new believer in Kuwait. According to the update, “Shortly after his conversion, his wife left him, his home was ransacked, and he was forced to go into hiding. Earlier this year, he was charged with apostasy and forced to appear without legal representation before religious courts in Kuwait. On May 29, an Islamic court in Kuwait pronounced Robert Hussein, a Kuwaiti citizen, an ‘apostate’ and declared that as such, he ‘should be killed.’ In today’s more extensive update, readers are asked to write two specific individuals in Kuwait to appeal for his fair treatment. To retrieve the update, send email to hub@xc.org with this line in the body of the message text:

The Robert Hussein web site is at http://www.domini.org/hussein/home.htm. My understanding is that at this site, authors have figured out a way to build an on-line fax generator that automatically faxes Kuwaiti gov’t officials. According to Nick Hall, this fax-manufaxturer has already gotten the attention of the Kuwaiti government! They’ve apparently already written the domini.org webmaster and asked for relief!!! So get the hussein update (which includes a sample letter), then get on the fax-generator and send your note. And please bow for a moment and pray for this gentleman’s life!

FINALLY! A TRAVELING TRAINING PACKAGE FOR JP2000 TEAMS!
Thanks to Caleb Project’s Shane Bennett for agreeing to present training for up and coming Joshua Project 2000 Research Teams! Now that AD2000 & Beyond has made a “live training experience” an integral part of the “official” JP2000 process, Shane will probably be one busy guy! But as an experienced trainer, researcher and prayer journey leader, he’s up to the task. We had him as a presenter at an Envision ’96 training event in January and he did a bang-up job. Evaluations from participants were very positive. As co-author for Caleb Project’s Research Expedition training manual, he’s well qualified. Caleb Project borrowed heavily from this manual in publishing AD2000 & Beyond’s JP2000 training book. Now, Shane’s seminars will bring to life the principles outlined in that book, Life-Changing Encounters. Contact Shane (soon! if you want him) at Shanedar@aol.com. And hey — you could have him come to your area once, hear him out, take good notes, then do it next time with local talent (maybe you?). Shane’s the kind of guy that wouldn’t mind seeing stuff re-used for the Kingdom of God. In fact, he’d love it! We’ve already written to try to book him or a colleague for an extensive research expedition-type training event in January… Participants from two different teams have already signed up!

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM TURKMENISTAN
Turkmenistan had only a small handful of scattered believers several years ago, but today there are more than 150 with many new baptisms this year. Many of the young believers in this Central Asian republic are persecuted and some have been imprisoned for their faith, even though the 4.5 million inhabitants of Turkmenistan have “official” freedom of religion. Several literature projects are under way, including translating Josh McDowell’s popular book, “More Than a Carpenter” into the Turkmen language. Another exciting translation project is the colorful Turkmen Children’s Bible.

WANT MORE INFORMATION ON USING PHONES ON THE NET?
John Redman john@adnc.com urges us to read http://204.7.54.2/fwd/new/faq.htm, which fills us in on a plan whereby an international committee hopes to set up servers in locations all over the world to make local phone calls via Internet Phone. The server in the “destination” country will “patch” the user through to the local phone company’s lines, allowing you to call users not equipped with Internet audio capability. If you don’t have access to the web, get the text copy by sending email to hub@xc.org with only this line in the body of the message text:

FREE EMAIL BENEFITS RURAL US POPULATION
Thanks to Dave Householder who reminded us that the free email service, Juno, especially benefits those USA residents living in rural areas where no on-line service or internet service provider provides a local dial-up to the Net. Why? Because from the beginning, Juno hasn’t charged a dime for accessing its service through a toll-free dial-up number. For more information, see Juno’s homepage at http://www.juno.com/ or call 1-800-799-JUNO.

MARCH FOR JESUS A BIG SUCCESS!
Sources say 11 million people marched in 170 nations during this past May’s “March for Jesus.” “The angels have never seen a day like this: around 11 million people marched for Jesus in 170 nations,” according to Gerald Coates, leader of England’s Pioneer movement and member of the global March for Jesus committee. “They all prayed for a global pouring out of the Holy Spirit and an activation of God’s people to make Christ attractive and understandable for the people around them.” From the million participants in the Philippines, between 2 and 4 million in Brazil and around a million in the USA to the mini-march in Macedonia with 100 people and at least one newly converted ex-KGB officer, another March for Jesus (MFJ) was added to the annals of church history.”
Thanks to Steve Bufton 100752.274@CompuServe.COM of “Friday Fax” fame for the update. To get a full copy, send email to hub@xc.org with only this line in the text of the message:

IBM TO OFFER INTERNET FOR THE WORLD
Thanks to Mark Dempsey, a missionary in South America, for tipping us off to IBM’s expansion as an internet service provider. “IBM’s ISP service also provides local dial access from more than 350 points of presence in the U.S., and, overall, more than 600 in 45 countries around the world. Once users register in their home countries, they can place local calls in any of the 44 other countries with no international traveling surcharges.” So the monthly flat rate of $19.95 allows unlimited access time in 45 countries!!! Where do I sign up??? :-) Check out http://reg.ibm.net/cc_svcplan.html for more info. Thanks Mark!

EUROPEANS TO COMPUTE FUTURE
If you’re interested in computing and its benefits to the continent of Europe, don’t miss the upcoming conference on computing there, November 22-23, 1996. Designed as a practical working conference that tries to achieve real results, organizers hope for the formation of a European group that is able to utilize the obvious advantages of a strong network for the continent. For more information, write schnell@gep.de or check http://www.ekd.de/schnell/ on the www. You may also write churchnet@ucsm.ac.uk or examine http://www.churchnet.org.uk/churchnet/
