15. THE BACKPAGE: FORGE ON, ONE LINE AT A TIME — Do you ever look at your to do list and wonder how you’ll ever actually finish it? Maybe it even feels a bit overwhelming because there are so many items, you’re convinced it’s just not possible? If you ever feel stuck in this situation, don’t feel alone. Either Churchill, Edison or Oswald Sanders said, “The world is run by tired people.” (The quote has been attributed to them all. Truth is — everybody’s so sleepy, they can’t remember who said it! :-) ) The idea is to make incremental progress. You don’t actually *have* to finish the list. But when you chip away at it and make progress, at least you’re “in route” to finishing it. If your list is too big, train yourself to take about 10 top priority items and list them in a separate location. Focus on those 10 for today. (Few of us can actually finish more than 10 things in any given day anyway.) The trick is to make sure you’re grabbing the right 10 for the day! No matter what, forge on.
