This past month, we came across a missionary who had experienced a travel hiccup in a Muslim land. It had resulted in jail time. If such a thing were to happen to you, where would you turn? Do you — or does your organization – have some kind of emergency insurance that helps with legal, medical, and evacuation emergencies? At various times in the past, our organization has used various companies for this purpose – including groups like World Nomads ( https://www.worldnomads.com/ ), Cap Travel Assistance ( https://www.captravelassistance.com/ ), and Travel Guard ( https://www.travelguard.com/ ). Some cover mostly medical evacuations – and perhaps your current medical insurance would already cover such a thing. (Suggestion: Take a moment to check on that today.) Others add in coverage for evacuations and upheavals of all kinds. One way or the other, I’ve learned this past month the importance of knowing in advance. Keep in mind – we’re not talking about emergency travel insurance for a short-term trip. We’re talking about overarching coverage for full-time workers year-round. We’re still on the hunt for the best option. Which emergency coverage would you recommend? (…and have you ever had to use it?)
