Why do we all keep handing over $15/month to Zoom when Google Meet is now free? They have breakout rooms – and screen-sharing too. What’s the deal. Can anybody tell me one thing Zoom has that Google Meet doesn’t? https://meet.google.com/ Can we all just jump ship to Google Meet, pool all our savings, and reach all unreached people groups in India with the difference? [ok – I’m kidding. But it might actually add up to a lot! But please tell me your take on this first. I haven’t canceled our Zoom for 500 people yet.] Here’s a Zapier comparison if that helps: https://zapier.com/blog/google-meet-vs-zoom/

Looking over Zapier’s comparison, it looks like it is better to stay with Zoom. The only advantage Google gives is the extra 20 minutes. All other comparisons looke like Zoom “takes the cake!”
I use google meet for most of my meetings, however I have a pro gmail account because I ran out of room for email and photos. 40 minutes on the free version was often a little shy of what I needed for many meetings. I do love how it automatically integrates with calendar etc. I don’t love that only chrome gets blurred backgrounds – not safari.
I can’t record meetings on Google Meet.
Ahhhh Carl – that would be a deal-breaker. Good point. Justin – had no idea about Safari. Thanks for giving all sides, gang! Any other views?
I trust the privacy policies of Zoom better than Google. Could be misplaced trust, but up until now, that has been why I avoid Google if possible. (And yes, I do have a gmail account, but I don’t use it as much as my other email accounts.)
