We are really excited that Zoom released a new feature that co-hosts can now do breakout rooms. No more juggling many tasks alone…your co-host can help you with those breakout rooms in large meetings. Remember, by default, Zoom can run its rooms with end-to-end encryption so that, even the people working in the Zoom back room office can’t see our participants any more.
8) We’re Giddy About A New Feature in Zoom
This will be great especially for Beyond’s Nuggets – BUT I was under the impression that E2E encryption & breakout rooms were incompatible options. Have they changed that yet?
Unfortunately, E2E encryption is said NOT to be maintained using Breakout rooms, nor can they guarantee end to end encryption in conferences with someone calling in via telephone. However, for $15/month, the idea of a full-encrypted, screen-to-screen experience… it still seems like something we would have only been able to DREAM about even 20 years ago. This kind of technology would have cost $10,000 for one single hour of use. It’s a truly amazing development. And, as you know, Zoom is only one of several platforms. It just seems to be one of the easiest and most universally-known now. We’re tested other platforms — as I’m sure you have as well. To me, there’s nothing that compares to the ease-of-use experience AND smooth connections normally enjoyed by Zoom. If bandwidth falters, users know how to turn off their video and… those breakout rooms are SOOO easy and quick. It’s amazing. I know that some still have security concerns, but NOBODY has been able to find a crack in the end-to-end encryption claim – yet.
