I think GoogleFi provides much better coverage for international roaming more countries at 3G for upto 5 months for data, but continued service for phone calls and texting. The next best would be T-Mobile at 2G for up to 4 months. Both have worked great for me in Papua New Guinea.
Had a look at Lufthansa Mobile or MTX connect (SIM or eSIM)?
Especially when not for long in one country/region intrnational SIMs are of value. Otherwise a local SIM may not be as convenient, but generally cheaper.
