Remember the old stories about the donated barrel of clothing arriving on the mission field? As a result, missionaries were stuck wearing tattered, generation-dated clothing. They always looked out of style and “fringe” focused. Enter the year 2018. What is TODAY’s version of the missionary barrel? Could it be thred up?
The thing is, thred up restocks with (literally) 15,000 pieces of clothing per day. It’s billed as the world’s largest online reseller of clothing and hardware. Its organizers say they work tirelessly making sure the clothing is “almost new.” They offer only “high-quality clothing from fashionable closets just like yours.” Have you tried Thred up? If so, what was YOUR impression? Is it “Macy’s for Missionaries?” : ) Just click “Comment” to give your opinion. And your opinion matters. : )
ThredUp looks like a great idea, but I, for one, am not willing to enter my email address before I can even take a look at what their store is like. I don’t want to get unlimited amounts of spam! So that’s a pretty good disincentive for even looking around the site….
…nice idea at the time.
