DON’T MISS THE MEDICS!
Don’t forget that on November 7-8, Southeast Christian Church will present its second annual medical mission conference. This year the conference will open Friday night with an upbeat praise and worship service with a theme of “The Primacy of Prayer”. Saturday morning will present lectures from short term and career physicians and nurses presenting the joys and the obstacles of their work as well as a lecture on Culture Shock and Bivocational Mission Work. Saturday afternoon will consist of break-out sessions concentrating on specific medical and dental disease processes; and how to set up medical mission work in your own church as well as how to become a team leader. Nurses will receive 5 contact hours and physicians will receive 5 hours of C.M.E. credit. There is no fee for this course. For more information, download the details by sending an email to hub@xc.org with the only line in the message being,
get brigada medmissionsconf
Or, contact Stephanie Garling at 502-451-5317 ext. 4725 or write: Southeast Christian Church, Missions Committee, 2840 Hikes Lane, Louisville, Kentucky 40218. If those two approaches don’t work for you, you can also email TinaBruner@compuserve.com.

LISTEN TO PTW III ON THE RADIO
During each day of October 1997, millions of believers around the world will participate in “Praying Through the Window III (The Unreached Peoples).” In support of this strategic initiative, World by 2000 partner Words of HOPE is pleased to offer a two-minute daily radio program which highlights each day’s list of the 10/40 Window’s least evangelized peoples.
For each day of October, the “Praying Through the Window III” radio program will focus on a missions and/or prayer-related Bible passage and apply it to the specific unreached peoples targeted for intercession on that day. The programs are adapted from this October’s Words of HOPE daily devotional booklet and feature a number of anecdotes drawn from World by 2000 outreach efforts throughout the 10/40 Window.
These programs will also be offered in text and RealAudio formats via Words of HOPE’s web site, which will also feature links to information about each day’s list of unreached peoples. (Start at http://www.wb2000.org and click your way there, or alternatively, go directly to http://www.gospelcom.net/woh/ )
Each of the 31 radio programs will be available to any interested North American stations via the Ambassador and USA Network satellite distribution systems. This special program series is also available free of charge on audio CD and analog cassette.
For more information or to order the compact disc, cassette, and/or printed booklet, contact Arnold Remtema, International Radio Research Office, World by 2000, 7899 Lexington Drive, Suite 200B, PO Box 62577, Colorado Springs, CO 80962-2577 USA, Ph: +1 (719) 548-7490 Fax: +1 (719) 548-7491, Email: Wb2000@xc.org, Web: http://www.wb2000.org.

CHINA ’97 CONNECTS HERE AND THERE
Students and scholars from all across the US met with leading Chinese intellectuals, ISI and Horizon Christian Fellowship staff and volunteers in San Diego for a time of spiritual exploration and growth on June 20-27. The conference allowed believers the opportunity to become further grounded in their faith and non-believers a chance to consider the claims of Jesus Christ. Workshops during the conference explored topics such as evidences for and questions about God and Christianity and how Christianity is relevant to China, an especially timely topic considering the turning over of Hong Kong to mainland China.
Over 400 Chinese students and scholars came, about 200 of which were non-believers. Of this number at least 41 expressed a desire to receive Christ. Ninety-three asked to know more about God and the Bible, and another 53 asked to join an exploratory Bible study. Of the believers, 78 recommitted their lives to the Lord and 95 committed themselves to service to the Lord…. All in all, seems to have been a very successful conference!

SAVE MORE ON GLOBE-TROTTING WEB-WATCHERS
One source reports that http://netministries.org/churches/cm00181/homegate.htm is an even better source for global Internet connections. According to one Brigada participant, for 1 minute online, Netcom is $1.10, compared to $0.20 on Homegate; 2 minutes, $1.20, compared to $0.40, and so forth up to 10 minutes, when it is breakeven time. Yet another Brigada participant recommends IBM http://www.ibm.net and Compuserve. So — on your next overseas adventure, check ’em out!

POSTERS OR TRACTS THAT PRESENT CHRISTIANITY! BUT WHERE?
That’s what Pete wants to know — at least for posters. He’s seeing tons of Muslim posters at the school where his kids attend. They promote the hajj, the five pillars… the works. But where can they get posters for the Christian bulletin board? Pete’s sure they’re out there… but he’d love to assemble the resource list and send it into Brigada. So — if you know where he can order Christian posters, write him at plewis@whorizons.org. Meanwhile, Wally WallyTS@compuserve.com is looking for similar stuff on tracts. Let him know if you’ve got a source for those little pamphlets! Thanks!

GLOBAL GLIMPSE FROM THE WORLD
Two years ago the Joshua Project 2000 list of 1739 unreached people groups was unveiled. Today all but 172 of those ethnic groups have commitments for church planting by December 31, 2000. Many of these unclaimed peoples live in Sudan, Laos, or Chad, with the rest scattered across the 10/40 Window. While there is great joy at this progress there is also concern, both for the 172 unclaimed groups as well as the hundreds of others who were too small or overlooked on the original list.

GOT A LINE ON MEDICAL INSURANCE FOR MISSIONARIES?
Bruce mfestvan@ansa.com would like to know. He’s looking to find out what’s available in the way of medical insurance for missionaries. So far, everything Bruce has found is either exorbitant or of little help to those living long-term overseas. If you have some leads, contact Bruce at davidhensman@calvarychapel.com. He’ll assemble a compilation and we’ll publish it here when he’s done… right Bruce?
