Suppose you have a Muslim friend who has become really interested in learning more about what it would mean to follow Jesus. Recently, we’ve come across the Come Follow Me course by Tim Green. With chapters on such varied topics as “Becoming Christ’s Follower,” “New Life in Christ,” “Reasons for Persecution,” “Reacting to Persecution,” and many more, this in-depth course shows a lot of promise. The illustrations are all tasteful, keeping Muslim heritage ane culture in mind. Yes – it’s thorough. This would be a course for someone deeply interested. But one of the reasons one might use this course is for that very reason – to generate a thorough appreciation for the decision your friend is about to make. You can find Come Follow Me at https://come-follow-me.org/ in multiple languages. If you try it, please let us know how it goes.
Our church (English-speaking in Medan, North Sumatra) used this with a group of about 20 refugees (mainly Iranian) from 2014 -2016 and found it to be very suitable for their needs. The way the questions were worded fitted perfectly with their world-view (and not from a western viewpoint). We were fortunate to have an Afghan believer who spoke Farsi as well as English and was able to translate for them. They very much appreciated this weekly study. Several went on to be baptized.
