This past week, Brigada participant, Brenda, wrote with a question, “Where can we see a list of all mission organizations?” The best list we could find was at https://missionexus.org/members/. There are 395 orgs listed there. Do you know of a better one?
There are thousands of missions is out there. “The Missions Handbook” is no longer published in print form. But it is evidence of so many independent missions that are not members of MissioNexus. https://lausanneworldpulse.com/perspectives-php/711/05-2007
Five years ago, an unofficial report from the IRS said that they estimated there were between 80,000 and 85,000 “Christian entities with international work that were registered as 501c3s” (tax exempt registration). So this would just be entities from the US. The fact of the matter is that in our network society, with believers in every country of the world, technology that facilitates connections, and with the largest diaspora movement ever recorded in human history, one does not have to join a traditional western sending agency to partner with a church or ministry on the other side of the world – to be engaged in cross-cultural ministry.
Two types of missions not typically appearing on lists;
1) Churches that fully act as their own mission agency. Some are even rather large.
2) Decentralized missions networks that appear to be one organization but are in reality many separate organizations. These may include both large and small organizations within the network that share a name and values.
Yes, I see YWAM and WEC International are missing from this list. Both are large international interdenominational mission agencies with thousands of workers. This is a good list, but it is restricted to members of Missions Nexus so it is quite limiting.
I would get a copy of Mission Handbook.
It is six years old.

We have a growing list which includes over 700 agencies and 700 support organisations. Yes, it has a slight UK focus, but I don’t know of a more comprehensive list. https://oscar.org.uk/organisations
Amazing info & comments. Thanks so much.
Now on board with CrossNet Global – providing training for smaller organizations and churches. Training with several modules and majority of training is free.
