I must admit, sometimes when I’m driving (Doug) I get sleepy. To help with my tiredness, I’ll make a quick stop for ice cream which always wakes me up. Someone recently sent me www.mcbroken.com, a website that tracks which McDonald’s ice cream machines are broken worldwide (thanks, Caleb!). Now, that’s a handy website! (Tip: Scroll out until you find the city or region where you’re currently living or driving then zoom in to see dots that represent which McDonalds have “working” or “broken” ice cream machines. This website is a riot!)

Fun info for those who drive in the US. Quick snacks were certainly were my go-to when driving long distances in Africa. However I found an article last year that upends this tradition. It says that the effects of quick energy of sugary snacks ends rather shortly and may even leave one sleepier as it is digested. It then called attention to professional long haul truckers who snack on sunflower seeds and similar items. Supposedly those slower eat items not only help you stay awake while driving, but the proteins snack effects last longer too. this may make little difference for those who have other reasons for frequent stops, but I pass it one possibly helpful for some:-)
