My family and I moved to the USSR in 1991. The region in which we lived became Ukraine, right before our very eyes. But now, what is Ukraine becoming today? And what will become of Crimea? Now they continue to think that they were better off then. And most of the Russians don’t want the European standards of life. They want to continue living like before. Not only don’t they care about their own freedom, but they also hate all those who struggle to achieve freedom. We think that their mentality is illogical. I just want to put any of them into a time-machine and transfer them into the Soviet Union for a year, with toilet paper being a chic, with the need to stand two (2) hours a day in a queue to buy any food, etc. One Russian in the Crimea said three months ago about the Ukrainians: “Why do the Ukrainians want to join Europe? I have been to Europe many times. We do not want to live there: one needs to have good education there and nobody will give you a piece of bread there for free.” She means that this is bad. The Russians do not care about the possibility to choose a profession for oneself and to earn money and to be able to take care of oneself. They still think that the best thing is to have a strong State, which would “take care” of people. In all sences, I would say.
